Full Description of Services
Located just south of Owen Sound, Grey Roots Museum and Archives offers visitors a look into Grey County’s varied history through Moreston Heritage Village and our in-house exhibits, including the award winning The Good People: Know our Stories, Know Us and the newly developed for rental L'Chaim - To Life.
Our 40,000 square foot facility offers six galleries, archives, and a theatre and picnic area. Seasonal special events include our Maple Syrup Festival and Regional Heritage Fair in the spring, Spoke and Bustle in the summer, the Sydenham Fall Fair and Pratie Oaten in autumn and Moreston by Candlelight in December.
Year-round education programs are available for local schools, daycares and day camps based on our in-house or current travelling exhibits. We also offer PA Day, March break and summer KidsCamp for children aged 5 to 12 which creates experiences and learning opportunities connected to our interpretative themes as well as our exhibits. Through a partnership with the History Matters Association, Grey Roots has begun to interpret the First World War for grade 7 and 8 students through hands-on interactive sessions and a re-enactment of the Battle of Vimy Ridge.
